Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula broke ground Tuesday, Nov. 4, on its new South San Francisco Clubhouse Complex, a project that leaders say will significantly expand youth services in northern San Mateo County.
The new facility, slated to open in spring 2027, will triple the number of students currently served at the existing site, according to BGCP CEO Jenny Obiaya. The complex will include a gym, a commercial kitchen and dedicated spaces for elementary, middle and high school students.

Local philanthropic and civic leaders joined the ceremony, including Connie and Bob Lurie, developer John Sobrato, Sand Hill Foundation President Susan Ford Dorsey and California State Assemblymember Diane Papan (D-21), who presented a proclamation recognizing the milestone. BGCP youth representative Catarina Brione de Oliveira also spoke at the event.
The South San Francisco Clubhouse will be part of BGCP’s network of sites serving more than 6,700 youth across San Mateo County.
